Simens Asylum

As you all know by now, I’m in the army in a base far up north. It’s not exactly a deserted place, but there certainly isn’t much else besides army related things up here. That said, the nature is surprisingly nice up here too

The area around us holds many many big mountains, and just around the base we can see five major tops just jogging around here. Here are some of them, as always panoramas (because that’s much easier). They are now uploaded to Flickr, because I’m trying that out and they have a good image handling system. I won’t add them to the post here now but maybe later. I will take some good pictures of our room and such as well later, but right now it’s too messy. Here’s an example on how it looked like last Sunday.

This is a strange day for most of us here at Simens Asylum, as today is the day where the few of us who started this place is leaving each other. After three years together we leave when we finally get this site going. Ironic, huh?

To make the story short, today was the last day for me, Ithos, ManaSky and Bjalle. We finally finished our three year long quasi-necessary education that prepares us for Universities, Colleges, studies abroad or army. It’s been three long, mostly boring, years where we’ve gotten to know each other. If it wasn’t for this, we would never have gotten to know each other. Yet now, we’re leaving this institution that kept us together and even made this place happen. This is a post to explain why things may or may not change here from now on.

First of all, we’re not changing… Much. Because of some events and membership growth (sorta) we have to change to adopt this new way of having this site. Unfortunately, I am going away on Saturday and depending on how well I do it on the tests the next three weeks from now on I will be gone for an undecided amount of time. It may be that I return on Monday or in about three weeks. Only time will tell and I’ll let you guys know when I know some more. That means that when I’m gone, everything will be taken care of by Ithos and the rest of the guys. There shouldn’t be anything different from now, as there will be no change in what people can (or can’t) do but I won’t be here to bitch at them to create something… Let’s hope things doesn’t get too quiet. The reason there hasn’t been much posted is also because of school, as we’ve all had our exams the last weeks.

Now on the other hand, as I’ve said, I’m going away. I’ve going to try and get an education in the army, and because of that they will have test me to see if I’m good enough. I don’t know if I am (the competition is hard, and a geek like me is going to have trouble on the physical tests) and I may return in three days which means this post is kinda futile. However, if I’m lucky I’ll be gone for at least three weeks. Three weeks where I’ll go without a computer and internet period. The other people here will then have to post content and their usual stuff but you won’t see anything from me. Those of you who hated my crappy panorama pictures, rejoice.

So there we have it, I believe I forgot something but if I did I’m sure I’ll remember it tomorrow when I’m gone. Add some comments below on what you feel about this, or in the forums. Whoa, sure is a lot of posts in a short time but that’s what happens when you make something new. Just bear with me here, people.

Yes, as some of you may know I went to a weekend at one of the Royal Norwegian Airforce bases, where I camped outside and did lots of awesome things. I’m going to post about that later, and I’ll also post why but now I’d like to show you two videos I took there. Two awesome Bell 412 SP helicopthers.
