New Track:: ‘Minor Guitar’

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

Okay, it’s a lame title. I haven’t even contemplated what the lyrics for this are going to be yet - and yes indeed, it’s a song unlike my previous stuff. The piano represents vocals because I find synthing voices sounds pretty awful.

So what do we have here? I suppose the best way to describe it is as an ‘energetic guitar track’. It uses frequent guitar riffs and a whole load of solos. It’s pacy and I personally can’t get enough of it; but I’m like that with anything of mine when it’s fresh from the bakery, to use a friend’s metaphor. My only concern is that the guitar sample used makes the beginning sound remarkably similar to ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ - not my intention. Were it recorded properly I’d try to sort that out, as I can’t stand plagiarism. But there you go, I’ve talked enough. I hope you enjoy it.

Play! A Video Game Symphony concert!

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

bannerwriteup

Friday night me, Ithos and Bjalle went to see the Play! A Video Game Symphony concert. Play! is a concert where they play video game music performed by orchestras, choirs, bands and other performers. This time they were in Lillestrøm and performing with Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic Choir, Machinae Supremacy and other performers like Rony Barrak. Directed by Arnie Roth and produced Jason M. Paul. Accompanied with three gigantic screens and enough fog to put a city out of reach it was one of the best concerts I’ve ever attended and will be hard to top. Read more for more text and pictures!

LLOW NOT WAR!

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

The fifteenth edition of the annual three day music and arts festival Lowlands has been a great success. It’s the magic mix of several factors that made this year so special. Although the weather forecasts and line-up lowered the expectations of several attendees and the press. But after the first raindrops everyone, who didn’t know yet, soon finds out that even a monsoon couldn’t kill the mood. Maybe because pretty much everything at lowlands is beneath a big tent or maybe because the mood and the people are really in an amazing mood. Most people are very friendly probably stoned and drunk. Especially on thursday when all there is to do is the small 24 hour tent, which isn’t small and the small food shops you’ll be lingering a lot on your camping talking and meeting new people. Though there’s always the chance of having shit neighbours that just depends. It helps going with a lot of friends. I’d recommend it as well because going on your own will end up feeling really miserable no matter how amazing the concerts were, unless you are awesomely fast at making friends or just hate the whole world.

Mute City

Friday, June 8th, 2007

I absolutely adored the F-Zero game that came out on the Snes. I never owned the Snes myself, but I went to a good friend of mine and played it as much as possible, and the game really brings back a lot of memories.

Included in the game was a song (or melody if you want) that has fascinated me since then, Mute City. It is called Mute City because it was Mute City’s (one of the tracks) song. Every F-Zero game since then have had a track called Mute City, and it is always followed by this song (although not in the exact same shape from system to system, for instance the sound quality is much higher on the Gamecube)

I have no idea why, but I can listen to this song over and over again, and I simply love it when Mute City starts to play in for instance Super Smash Brothers Melee (yes, there is a stage called Mute City in SSBM too). Therefore, I would like to link you to this song (or melody? I have no idea which word is the most appropriate). This version of Mute City, in which I intend to link you to, is only one of many versions, but this is one of the true Mute City versions, and I especially love the first part.
